Week 1: 6/17 – 6/23 : I’ve learned the importance of time management. I spent 40 hours this week reading material, summarizing staging drivers and basking in the awesomeness of doing what I’ve always wanted to do with my life. I don’t regret any of it, but I realize how easy it is to be caught up in small details that make me miss the bigger picture. I’ve been shaving yaks. This upcoming week, I’ll spend more time digging into the code and watching all these concepts and theories I’ve been reading become real. And stop worrying about understanding every small detail of concepts I read about. (40hrs)
Week 2: 6/24 – 6/30 : I spent the week doing a bunch of other things. Went to a workshop on the 24th and 25th, then a workshop provided by Bocoup on the 28th. Also was taking care of a sick cat. Going to be working on other drivers since ASUS OLED and Netlogic seem like they aren’t going to work out. I also went to a dinner with some of women in tech in Boston. It was awesome meeting them. =] (40hrs)
Week 3: 7/1 – 7/7 : Unusual week. It started off pretty stressful, and by the middle of it, I felt better. I read a whole lot (reading two books now). I’m hoping to work on the comedi driver next week. In the process of getting involved with the comedi driver, we had problems with emails bouncing, changing maintainer, me sending out a patch incorrectly (still learning!), and an inactive mailing list. But hopefully next week things will get moving. Still feeling this creeping in occasionally (particularly when I’m stressed out), but I will talk more about that problem in my blog to help other women. Plus I had a good 4th of July. =] (40hrs, didn’t do anything on the 4th, but read a bunch on the weekend)
Week 4: 7/8 – 7/14 : Comedi driver doesn’t seem like it will be going anywhere. It might be my approach. I might have to prove that I’m able and willing to work hard on the driver I want to work on. I realize that everyone working on the kernel, so they’re all busy with their own lives and projects So I should put more effort. I’ll see what I can do to help the kernel. Spent most of the week reading. During the weekend I helped develop a game for iamagamer. The theme was strong female protagonist: had to join once I found that out. We used ImpactJS and it was AWESOME~! (32hrs, one mental health day)
Week 5, 6, 7: 7/15 -8/4 : Working on DGNC driver. It has lots of code. I def, figuring it out. I understand how the code works, its just the API that’s hard to wrap my head around. >_< But yes, that’s mostly it.
