Figured out my goals for the program, and workflow today.

My goals for the program are:

- Learn everything I can about device drivers and the kernel
- Get some drivers out of staging
- Have my own device driver(s) built
Plan for how the program will work:
- I’ll have a project to work on (could be tackling TODO.txt, making the code fit Linux’s coding style, adding functionality my own device driver, etc)
- I’ll keep my mentor updated on my progress and reach out to if I need help with anything.
- Once I finish the project, I’ll send it.
- Fix it up til its perfect and go on to the next one.
- I’ll keep track of how many hours/week I spend on projects since OPW requires 40hrs/week. I’ll send info a weekly email with info about time spent and progress.
I’m mildly obsessed with goals and planning.

Hello! I’ve recently found out that I’ve been accepted into OPW. I’m incredibly excited to be working on device drivers with Greg Kroah-Hartman.

This is also my one year anniversary of being 100% independent. This year has been the best ever (not exaggerating). I’ve learned a lot about myself, learned how to express myself with art, language and music. I’ve learned how to purge harmful people from my life and open myself to amazing people. I’ve left an abusive, toxic and hopeless wasteland, not knowing how I’d survive, where I’d live, what I was going to do with my life, and now I’m 1 step closer to doing what I want to do for the rest of my life; I’ve never been more thankful.

I have a lot of goals I want to accomplish and I finally have the motivation, time and money (thanks to the stipend) to accomplish them.

By the end of this internship, I want to have a driver I’ve built myself, and take as many drivers out of staging as possible.

Add to the good news, Bocoup has allowed me to use a desk in their office for the duration of my internship. The people there are really friendly and I’m really looking forward to coworking with their developers.

Also, today was graduation day for people at UMass Boston. Congrats to everyone who graduated. :-)

All-in-all an amazing day, week and year for me. May 31st is my official second birthday.
